Kitchen Appliances POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL AND GLASS
- For the first time Smeg kitchen appliances have combined polished stainless
steel and glass in a gas hob, adding a 70cm 5 burner hob to
the Evolution range. The beautifully designed polished stainless
steel burners together with a sleek glass base give a practical
and hygienic cooking surface with superb style. |

Kitchen Appliances ULTRA LOW PROFILE AND FLUSH-FITTED HOBS
- The ultimate in professional styling, this hob was introduced
in a 90cm width with two versions: one fitted with an ultra
low profile of only 4mm above the work surface, and the other
completely flush fitted. The range has now been expanded to
include two 70cm wide versions with front controls. Similar
clean lines can be seen in co-ordinating sinks shown on page
150 -151. |

THREE-WAY
ULTRA RAPID BURNER - All the burners have electronic
ignition incorporated in the knobs and most models also include
safety valves, which shut off the gas if the flame is accidentally
extinguished. The latest innovation is a dual flame ultra-rapid
burner, composed of an auxiliary and a rapid burner. Two controls
allow both burners to work together or separately as required.
PAN STANDS - The stainless steel used in
Smeg pan stands and burner caps is of the highest quality
grade 18/10, however all stainless steel will tarnish on exposure
to direct flame. The original appearance can be virtually
restored with the use of appropriate cleansing agents, and
alternatives are available in cast iron or enamel. |

Kitchen Appliances SAFETY VALVES - Here again, special
attention has been paid to safety: in most models a valve
on the burner cuts off the gas flow if the flame is accidentally
extinguished. In this event, the gas feeder valve shuts off
instantaneously, regardless of the position of the control
knob. Hobs with gas burners offer a vast range of power combinations;
one exclusive Smeg feature is the ultra-rapid burner with
three areas of flame from a single burner, capable of generating
more than 4 kW of power. Some 70 and 90 cm versions are fitted
with an elliptical burner specially designed for cooking fish. |
