Britannia Cooker Hoods

Britannia Cooker Hoods - Essential reading before deciding. Make sure you know the facts
Britannia ducted cooker hoods provide a cleaner kitchen - as steam, vapour, smoke and odours are quickly and efficiently removed. Your home will automatically benefit from this improved environment - free from unwanted lingering fumes and smells normally associated with cooking! Britannia Cooker Hoods are ultra efficient. Superbly designed with tomorrow's lifestyle in mind - each of our top specification units is remarkably quiet during operation and Britannia's legendary reliability comes as standard!
Britannia Cooker Hoods are an incredible help in removing cooking smells, vapours and condensation and are designed for quiet operation. As a general rule you will mainly use the lower and mid speeds during normal cooking and resorting to maximum speed when dealing with emergencies -such as burning the toast! Maximum speed is sometimes necessary when using all burners or when griddling meats as this can create excessive vapours.

Britannia cooker hoods purposely publish against each model, the noise levels andthe performance in cubic metres per hour for each motor speed to assist you when making comparisons with other makes. The performance of a hood is extremely important and is normally measured in in cubic metres per hour i.e. how much air is moved. All Britannia cooker hoods have superior, powerful motors so it's well worth making comparisons before making your decision. All our hoods feature hotplate illumination and metal grease filters that can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.

Britannia Cooker hoods grease filters do not have to be replaced, they are designed to last the life of the It is always preferable to use hoods as ducted models i.e. ducted to an outside wall. Air is drawn into the hood, fats are trapped by the grease filter. Odours, fumes and condensation are then expelled to the outside atmosphere. Some of our models are designed exclusively for ducting out, for example our intelligent hoods with ASC system - this is because these hoods will sense an abnormal presence of gas and exhaust the gas to the outside atmosphere - a great safety feature.
On certain other models you can choose to install Britannia Cooker hoods as a ducted model or recycling model - we would only recommend that a hood is used as a recycling model if it is impossible to duct out. When using a hood as a recycling model, air is drawn into hood, fats are trapped by the grease filter, the air then passes through charcoal filters to help absorb cooking odours, the purified air is then recycled back into the kitchen. t is realistic to assume that using a hood on recycling mode will circulate at least 30% less air than by ducting out - this is because the charcoal filters will restrict a certain amount of airflow. Charcoal filters are an optional extra and will require replacing at least every six months or earlier with frequent use. (Charcoal filters are not required if you ductout). If a hood is used on recycling mode it will help reduce cooking odours but will not reduce steam or condensation. If you wish to reduce odours, steam and condensation, then you must duct out to expel these to the outside.

Britannia ducted cooker hoods in the same room as a fossil fuel burning appliance?

The following is a requirement of UK and European legislation and is based on the interest of your safety. If the room where a ducted cooker hoods is to be installed also contains a fossil fuel burning appliance such as a gas or oil central heating boiler, then its flue must be of the room sealed or balanced flue type. A ducted hood is not suitable for use in a room where any open flue is in use, as dangerous fumes of combustion can be sucked back into the room. (This would include the following open flue appliances - central heating boilers, coal fires, log fires, gas fires, wood burning stoves etc.). Therefore if you have an open flue fossil fuel burning appliance in your kitchen, you are automatically compelled to select a hood that is capable of working on recycling mode.

Cooker hoods are an incredible help in removing cooking smells and condensation and have been designed for quiet operation. they feature hotplate illumination and are fitted with superior stainless Steel grease filters which are dishwasher proof. It is always preferable to use these cooker hoods as ducted models. if this is not practical, charcoal filters can be fitted and the hood used as a recirculating model. the filters will require changing periodically. It is realistic to assume that using a hood in recycling mode will circulate 30% less air than by ducting out.
Hood - K274L.britannia k724l This Britannia cooker hoods model has been designed only for ducting out and is specifically recommended for use over a 90cm cooker with BBQ hotplate. The underside of the K274L has a generous catchment area to cope with cooking fumes generated by the BBQ. The K274L also incorporates a warning system to advise when to clean the grease filters, plus a ten minute timer option so the hood continues to clear the fumes then automatically switches off.

britanniaBRITANNIA Dynasty Cooker Hoods. Fumes and cooking odours can be rapidly removed with the use of the 12 step levels of extraction. The Dynasty cooker hood also features the ultra-effective turbo boost - this powerful feature can be used for rapid clearance over a short period - very powerful, very effective, very useful.
The practical auto-switch off timer can also be used. The warning light reminds you to clean the grease filters after 400 hours of use. The Britannia Dynasty cooker hoods are supplied with integral back panel and ladle rack and remote control handset.
All the hoods feature a telescopic flue which adjusts to suit most room heights. The outlet to connect the ducting is sited on top of the base section of the hood. The two sections that make up the telescopic flue conceal the ducting. The telescopic flue section is open at the rear so ducting can be turned through 90o to go out through the rear wall.

Alternatively the ducting can be run out the top of the flue section, this is sometimes ideal for installations in bungalows or where there is a false ceiling. Ideally the chimney hoods should be sited a minimum of 660mm above the cooker hotplate. Please note ducting components are optional accessories and have to be ordered - they are not automatically supplied with the chimney hood.
Important : When using a hood with BBQ, fry top or griddle you must duct out. Britannia recommend that appliances with BBQ should always be installed on an outside wall, this minimises the length of ducting and maximises the hood performance. The K274L is ideal for 90cm appliances with BBQ.
To obtain the best possible extraction performance always use 6" (150mm) diameter rigid circular ducting.
