Cooker Hoods- Britannia Discount centre

Try to plan Britannia cooker hoods onto an outside wall in the kitchen if this is at all possible. By doing this, you will minimise the length of the ducting and maximise the hood performance. General guidelines - All Britannia cooker hoods have high performance extraction rates, therefore using the correct size ducting is of paramount importance. The majority of Britannia cooker hoods have outlets to accept 150mm diameter ducting. Do not be tempted to use reducers and fit 125mm or 100mm ducting as this will dramatically reduce performance and increase noise levels. Do not use concertina type expanding 150mm ducting. When planning your ducting run try to keep the number of bends to a minimum as this will also help maximise the hood performance. We suggest that you always utilise rigid circular ducting or 'Mega duct' to optimise performance, (please note the twin motor canopy hood model CK2000 is designed to take 200mm diameter ducting due to the exceptional high power). Note that any ducting used must not be connected to any existing ventilation or flue system that is being used for any other purpose.

Very Important : Britannia Cooker Hoods over BBQs

If you intend to use Britannia cooker hoods over range cookers with a barbeque, chef top, or if you intend to use a griddle, then you must duct out. We strongly recommend that any cooker with a barbeque is always sited on an outside wall of the kitchen so as to minimise the ducting run and maximise hood performance. Hood model K274L is specifically designed for use over the 90cm cooker with barbeque, Maximum lengths of ducting runs

Hoods with 150mm outlets
4 metres and one 90 degree bend
3 metres and two 90 degree bends
2 metres and three 90 degree bends

Hoods with 200mm outlets
5 metres of 200mm flexible commercial aluminium foil
ducting.

Cooker Hoods Height above hotplates

Ideally Britannia chimney cooker hoods should be positioned between 650mm to 750mm above the Britannia hotplate surface. Note that the chimney hood must not be positioned lower than 650mm. If you are using a Britannia back panel with ladle rack the height is pre-determined at 660mm. Ideally the chimney hood should be positioned between 650mm to 750mm above the hotplate surface. Note that the chimney hood must not be positioned lower than 650mm. If you are using a back panel with ladle rack the height is pre-determined at 660mm.

Chimney Cooker Hoods Telescopic flues

All the wall mounted chimney cooker hoods models (detailed on pages 68 to 71) and the corner chimney hood have telescopic flues, which adjust to suit most room heights. The telescopic flue is made up of a lower and upper section. The lower section houses the motor. The upper section conceals the ducting, it is open at the rear so ducting can be turned through 90 degrees to go out through the rear wall. Alternatively the ducting can be run out of the top of the upper flue section and through the ceiling. The remaining wall mounted chimney hood models have the motor housed in the base section of the hood and the telescopic flue section hides the ducting.
